skills, knowledge & EXperience – small business mentor

WHAT CAN I HELP WITH?…

  • There’s the practical side of things
  • There are the softer skills I use to help you
  • There’s the past experience I draw on

What I help with often starts in one place and ends up somewhere deeper

You don’t have to define the problem perfectly.
You just need to bring what you’ve got, and we begin there.

The Practical, Technical Side

Below are the kinds of things people typically ask for support with…
but the help isn’t limited to this list.

Websites

Structure, flow, clarity — or simply getting things working the way they should.

SEO (Search Visibility That Makes Sense)

No jargon, no complicated audits. Just practical, grounded improvements that make your website more visible.

Customer Journey & User Experience

Understanding what your client needs at each step so things feel natural, intuitive, and considered.

Copywriting & Messaging

Helping you express what you offer in a way that connects rather than confuses, alienates or bores people.

Creating Offers & Offer Suites

Turning ideas into offers that make sense to both you and more importantly, your clients.

Automation & Streamlining

Removing friction, easing bottlenecks, and freeing up headspace.

Branding Basics

Clarifying tone, feel, consistency and coherence, without disappearing into a full rebrand (Or identifying where it’s needed).

Simple Strategy Review

A clear-eyed look at what you’re doing, what’s working, what isn’t, and where things could move with far less effort.
No complicated frameworks — just practical guidance and grounded direction so you can see your next steps without second-guessing them.

Pivoting

Thinking through shifts, transitions, new directions, and what they open up next.

These are examples, not limits. MOST MUDDLES ARE A MIXTURE OF SEVERAL.

The Softer Skills That Actually Shift Things

These are God given abilities I’ve always had and often taken for granted, assuming that everybody saw things the same way. Intuition, perception, pattern-spotting, refined over years of working closely with people. They’re subtle, but they’re usually the reason clarity surfaces as quickly as it does.

Seeing things in 3D & spotting what’s misaligned

Not just taking things at face value, but seeing the structure, the strains, the possibilities, all at once, sensing when something in your business doesn’t match what you’re trying to build.

Getting to the heart of the problem

You describe the symptoms; I help uncover what’s actually driving them, teasing out what’s hidden. Often the real block is rarely the one that’s labelled.

Hearing the truth beneath your words

Often the real insight is already there, you just haven’t heard yourself clearly yet. I help reflect it back so you can finally see it.

Helping you see your business through a customer’s eyes

Showing you how it lands in the cold light of day, without insider bias, assumptions, or emotional attachment, so the picture becomes clearer and more honest.

Translating complicated into usable

Turning tangled thoughts and multi-layered decisions into clear next steps, distilling what truly matters and cutting through noise, overwhelm, and shiny-object distractions.

Keeping things calm when everything feels too much

A grounded presence that lowers the emotional stress, protects you from overcomplicating things, and helps create a sense of forward movement, even when things feel muddy.

IT’S FAR EASIER TO USE THESE SKILLS FOR OTHERS RATHER THAN for MYSELF!

Past Experience Shapes How I Work

My background crosses several very different worlds, each adding another layer to how I see and understand businesses:

Degree & Post-Grad in Business Administration

This provided a broad understanding of a host of subjects including Strategic Management, Operations Management, Marketing, Accounting (that didn’t stick) amongst others.

Retail

Several years experience in sales, store administration and merchandising for a national high street retailer, with a strong focus on service.

Corporate

Business systems: Software configuration, processes, data flow, KPIs, policies and procedures, project management and much more.

Self Employment

Founder & designer of the award-winning By Harriet millinery and bridal accessories brand, established over 20 years

Website designer, consultant + teacher for 60+ founders at Harriet Head | The Website Sidekick  formerly established in 2020 after some years as a “side thing”, I hate the term “side hustle”.

Most people arrive thinking they need help with one thing and leave clearer across several.

That’s the nature of untangling something.

If something in your business needs sorting, whether you can clearly define it or not, we’ll start where you are and work our way through it together.
